If there is anyone who knows what kind of plants do well here in spring, I'd welcome any recommendations.

[If one happened to notice, William Bush - a man who took such pride in his rank - wasn't wearing his uniform today. One could hardly expect him to wear the same thing every day when he had access to fresh water at the turn of a knob and more clothes than he could shake a stick at. To be perfectly frank, this was the wealthiest he'd ever found himself and he had absolutely no money to show for it.

Not that he was complaining about that. Restlessness, yes. There was only so much a man could occupy himself with before he went stir-crazy and started looking for plots of earth to make a garden in.

Yes. William Bush was going to plant a garden.

Which was why he was headed to the center of town at this very moment for seeds and implements with which to dig and such. If anyone remembered him from his earlier post then he'd be in some serious hot water.]

[Melaka... has some vague recognition of him. After all, crew, heard two posts. Had Archie run on both. But then she stands out herself more than Bush does probably between the nose stud and the mukti-colored hair and stuff. But No, she sort of recognizes that guy with the shovels across the shop. Hmmmm]

[William is making a very serious effort not to stare at her. Really he is. The hair and piercings is severely throwing him off though and he's become terribly distracted which ultimately leads to clumsiness. And he up and drops the shovel he'd been examining, which results in a great clamor. Bush's ears turn the most interesting shade of red as he drops to pick it up, grumbling obscenities the whole while.]

[She was considering ways she might try to get his attention, maybe initiate a chat without being terribly over-rude and throw things back. But when the shovel drops...

Well, she bursts out laughing. And with that, she's just going to cross the distance over to him, still laughing]

Need a hand?

[Bush flusters easily around the spunky type of woman and already the simple fact that she crosses the space between them laughing sets him off, so when Melaka crosses the space between them he just goes grumbly and polite.]

Beg yer pardon, miss.

[He even brings his hand up to tip his hat in reflex.]

Not very.

Flowers are might pretty but rather useless.

[Though he did have a penchant for the color blue. Out of all the ones his sisters sneaked into the garden, only the blue colored flowers ever remained.]

That's not true at all. Flowers make people smile and be happy. They're not useless.

[William Bush thinks it's rather fortunate he can't be seen. The smile on his face gets to be his secret alone.]
